China Glaze: Dorothy Who?

Hello, Everyone!  Today I have a very glittery nail polish to show!  It's from China Glaze's Wizard of Ooh Ahz Collection which was originally released in 2001, but it was re-released.  That is the collection that the ever-so-famous "Ruby Pumps" comes from.

All the photos were taken in natural light with 3 coats of color.  The photos are pretty much color accurate.

"Dorothy Who?" is a glitter polish with a light blue jelly base.  The color is lighter on the nail than in the bottle.  The color is somewhat transparent.  But you can pretty much get it opaque in three coats.  I used three coats because the color was kind of streaky.  The color dried normally and application was fine.  Removal was easy enough when using the foil technique, letting the nail polish remover soak in the polish.

I feel like everyone is in love with this color, while I just thought it was okay.  I mean, it's super glittery, but perhaps I just needed to be in a more glittery mood when wearing it.  The color is very pretty, maybe just not for me.

Do you like this color?  Do you like glitter polishes in general?  Let me know!

I cut my nails short yesterday, but I have a few photos of polishes that I already took, so my nails might be long in one post, then the next day short, and then the next day long.  Please don't be confused.  :D  It all just depends on when I feel like reviewing the colors I already took pictures with.

I went to ULTA yesterday, looking for the new Katy Perry collection, hoping to get my hands on a few colors and the black shatter, but, long story short, I left with the mini set that has the four colors of the collection and no black shatter.  All the black shatter was gone.  BUMMER.  But I shall not lose hope!  I just have to wait until ULTA restocks.  I've waited several months.  I can wait a little bit longer.

Lippmann Update, Blog Award, and What's Coming Soon

So!  No review or nail design today.  More like just updates.
First, I want to know if anyone noticed any.... new... about Ms. Lippmann's (as I like to call her) website?  WELL.  The 3 "newest" shades at the top of her list of nail lacquers are "Lady Sings the Blues", "Some Enchanted Evening", and "Razzle Dazzle"!  Those are the three colors from the "All That Jazz" trio!  I KNEW it!  I KNEW IT!   I knew that those colors were going to be sold individually soon.  And now they are, for $18 a bottle.  I had gotten the trio, which was $40 for all three, which saved me $14.  This is a perfect opportunity for people who only wanted one or two of the colors in the set.

I'm sure everyone has seen enough of these colors, but I just felt like informing you all, just in case you didn't know about this little update. I CARE.  :D

ALSO! I have been tagged by Gigi over at Nail Crack for a Stylish Blogger Award, and I feel honored!  I shall make a separate post for the award!

As for what is coming soon...
I have lots of new colors that need to be reviewed.  I haven't done any nail art in a really long time.  I need to start doing that again soon.  And I am going to ULTA today to look for some good finds... maybe I'll get lucky!

It's rather cold today, which isn't normal for Florida.  But that's fine.  I'm enjoying it, compared to the constant humidity and heat.

Revlon: Mad About Mango

Hello, Everyone!  Today I have one of Revlon's SCENTED nail polishes!  I saw the display in Walgreens and saw the color "Mad About Mango" and I LOVE LOVE LOVE mangos, so I had to get it.  I got the color more for the smell than the color.  I was actually afraid the color wouldn't go with my skin tone.  Anywho!  Here's the review.

All photos were taken by a window with sunlight with three coats.  The photos are color accurate.

"Mad About Mango" is a bright orange creme.  It is opaque in 2 coats, but it is rather streaky, forcing me to use three coats.  The color is supposed to smell like mangos when dry, at least, that's what I assumed.  And you know what happens when you assume.  Anyway, long story short, the polish definitely smells fruity, but I wouldn't say MANGO-y.  After I applied Seche Vite to make it shiny (because it's not all that shiny by itself), I could still faintly smell the fruitiness.  Which was unexpected, but a good unexpected.

The application was fine, just streaky, and drying time was normal.  Removal was easy.  As for the wear, I only wore it for a day and a half, but for that time, it didn't chip.

This color is bright and fun and perfect for the summer!  So perhaps now isn't the best time for it, but then again, I don't follow the season's colors.  I wear what I feel like wearing.  End of story. :D  I got it at Walgreens for a little under $5.  I ended up really liking the color, and it went fine with my skin tone. :D

That's all for today!  It's been quite cloudy where I live.  But luckily not too cold.  I have been ITCHING to get my hands on the Katy Perry Collection and the Anchor's Away collection.  It's slightly killing me on the inside that I don't have them yet.

Sorry that I keep changing the layout of the blog.  I just change my mind too often.  But I like the layout now because it's simple and doesn't seem crowded or busy.  But we'll see how long it lasts. Lol.

Sally Beauty Supply Find!~

Hello, Everyone! Today I went to Sally's and I got three things! China Glaze's "Dorothy Who" and China Glaze's "Strawberry Fields" along with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. You see, this is what happened. I was just going to get the two China Glazes, BUT I saw a sign next to the Seche Vite top coats that if you buy one of the Seche Vites, you get a FREE China Glaze! I was like, Sweet! So. That is how I ended up getting a top coat as well.

And here are the beauties.  Left "Dorothy Who" and Right is "Strawberry Fields".  I am currently wearing "Dorothy Who" and it is GLIT-TER-Y. :)  Swatches shall be soon.  I have been acquiring A LOT of nail polish lately, and I am honestly worried how I am going to store it all.  ANYWAY.
Today wasn't a half bad Monday, and I hope your Monday wasn't half bad either. :D

Revlon Scented Polishes

Hello, Everyone! Today I had to make a quick run at Walgreens and guess what I found?  I saw that Revlon has a bunch of scented nail polishes (scented when dry).  So, I looked at the colors and the scents and chose....

"Mad About Mango"!
I LOVE mangos, so it was only natural that I pick this color.  Plus, the other scents bored me (ie. Ocean Breeze, etc.)
So. I will have a swatch hopefully tomorrow. :)
And I am patiently waiting for my closest ULTA to get O.P.I's Katy Perry collection.  And hopefully I can get some colors from China Glaze's Anchors Away collection soon at Sally's.

And on a side note, I've been thinking about cutting my nails, not to total nubbins, but definitely shorter.

O.P.I: Jade is the New Black

Hello, Everyone!  Today I have a very popular color on the nail blogs!  It's O.P.I's "Jade is the New Black".  AND if anyone is interested in seeing  a swatch of Zoya's "Indigo"  you can check out my sister's blog The Mod Girl.

All the pictures were taken with artificial and two coats of color.  The photos are color accurate.

"Jade is the New Black" is a beautiful green jade creme.  There's not much else to describe the color.  Jade is the perfect color to describe the color.  I used 2 coats, which allowed perfect coverage!  Application is as smooth as ever!  Drying time is normal and removal was easy!

The wear is amazing.  I wore it for four days without chips!  It's a long-lasting polish.  And really enjoyed this color, and if you don't have it, get it!

I hope everyone has/had a great day!  Do any of you have this color?  Do you like it?

Revlon: Ruby Ribbon

Hello, Everyone!  Today I have my second matte polish from Revlon, "Ruby Ribbon".  I first saw this polish on Polish Obsessed and I thought, "I have to find this color."  And that one day at ULTA, I found it when I wasn't even looking for it.  ULTA is just awesome.

All the pictures were taken next to the dim light coming out of my window.  It's been awfully cloudy today.  There is two coats of color. :)  The photos are pretty much color accurate.  The best representation of the color is the photo with just the thumb nail.

"Ruby Ribbon" is a dark red matte polish.  I did not use a base coat or a top coat with this polish. "Ruby Ribbon" is the sister of "Emerald City", which comes from the same collection.  I like to think of them as siblings. :P

Now. The first coat is a bit uneven, but the color is perfect in two coats.  I have worn "Ruby Ribbon" for two days and no chips!  And it doesn't look like it will be chipping anytime soon.  And no tip wear yet.  :D

When applying "Ruby Ribbon", you don't have to work as fast as normal mattes because it dries slower than normal matte polishes.  So that gives you time to cover the whole nail without dragging the color.  Even thought it dries SLOWER than normal mattes, it still dries FAST. :)

I honestly think the color looks like red leather. :D  It doesn't have this TOTAL matte feel to it because it doesn't dry chalky like a lot of mattes.

And as you can see on my ring finger, I did some nail art.  I saw the design on Chloe's Nails and I couldn't wait to use "Crystal" by Zoya, so there you go. Lol.  A sneak peek to "Crystal".

That is it for today. :)  I'm thinking that tomorrow's post will be "Jade is the New Black" by O.P.I.

Zoya: Savita

Hello, Everyone!  Today I have a review on one of the three free Zoyas I got from Zoya's Facebook promotion.  And actually, this is my first Zoya ever!  So I was super excited to try this on!  The color is "Savita"!

The photos were taken with artificial lighting.  All photos use two coats.  Photos are color accurate!

"Savita" is, according to Zoya's website, a "bold, vibrant medium purple with strong red and gold shimmer with a velvet matte finish."  And I couldn't agree more!  Perfect description! Makes my job of reviewing this easy! Lol.  I used two coats to get a nice even finish.  Because the polish is matte, it dries quickly, so you have to apply it fast!  It's good to get a good amount of polish on the brush and then do a coat on your nail in three strokes: one in the middle, one on the left, then one on the right.

The close-up picture above shows you the red/pink glitter!  So very pretty!  I really love this color and when I wore it (only for a day and a half) I got a compliment. :)  I wore it for a day and a half but it did not chip.  And I don't think it would have chipped if I wore it longer.  There was minimal tip wear.  And remember, these matte colors are NOT supposed to be used with a base coat or a top coat!

"Savita" is a part of Zoya's Matte Velvet Winter Collection.  It can be found on Zoya's website www.zoya.com for $7.  Because of this color, I really think I may have converted to an all out Zoya fan.  There are SO many colors on the website.  And customer service is amazing!

I really recommend this color!  It's so bold, but it's not shiny.  I am slowly getting more and more matte colors in my collection.  So far I have four.  Matte colors have such a chic look to them.  And "Savita" is no exception!

O.P.I: Big Apple Red

Hello, Everyone!  Today I have the first color I wore from my ULTA haul!  Today is O.P.I's "Big Apple Red".

All the pictures were taken in direct sunlight and are color accurate.  All pictures have two coats.

"Big Apple Red" is, in my unprofessional opinion, the perfect red.  It's just...perfect!  "BAR" is a red jelly (and I say jelly because it doesn't have that opaque creme-iness to it).  Even though I call it a jelly, the color is opaque enough in two coats.  "BAR" is like a candy apple color.  It's so bright and so shiny on it's own!

I HIGHLY recommend this color!  Application is great, drying time is normal, and the look is fabulous.  It REALLY stands out.  When I was in dance class and I wore this color, I saw my nails in the mirror against my black leotard and the red just POPS.  If you don't want a lot of reds in your collection, just get this one, and I think you'll be more than pleased.

The only thing I need to say about this color is that it slightly stained my cuticles, but it didn't stain my nails because I wore a base coat.  So just be careful with application and try not to get it on your cuticles.
Some of you MIGHT recognize this color from somewhere. It's the color worn on the logo for O.P.I's Facebook fanpage!  Here's the logo:

Well, I have a 4 day weekend ahead.  Not sure what I'll be doing with my spare time.  Perhaps some swatches? Who knows.

My Three Free Zoyas!

Well.  Look what came in the mail yesterday...!  I was SO excited to get these.  I was nervous.  Worried.  Apprehensive that my order hadn't gone through.  It was my first time ordering from Zoya.  But no. Zoya is awesome, and they make sure you get your order.  So for everyone who has yet to get their package, do not fret!

  • Harlow: It's a bit more purple in real life.  It's a magenta color, not pink or purple.  It dries matte.
  • Crystal:  A light blue foil with gold specks.  It was Zoya's top polish of 2010!
  • Savita:  A deep purple matte polish.  All the swatches I've seen of this are gorgeous!
Picking just three colors was hard.  Very, very, very, excruciatingly hard.  I had a list of over 16 colors that I wanted from Zoya.  But I picked the three that I just absolutely had to have like NOW. :D  I want to try these on SO *%&$@# badly, but I'm still wearing "Big Apple Red" (my 3rd day wearing this color. WOW) and I love it too much to remove it.  So I think it'll be on for a little while longer.

So.  From my haul on Saturday from ULTA and these three Zoyas, I have gotten 12 new colors in 4 days.  Now THAT is impressive.
